Very few things in my life have had a more profound effect on me and my family as Center for Discovery. I was watching the Dr. Phil show and learned about the program. I was apprehensive at first since we have gone through so much treatment with my son. This place literally changed his life and in relation ours. He is a different kid. A child with a high self esteem know, direction, and believes in himself. This is the same young man who had already been to 5 therapists and another treatment center. I loved the fact that he was surrounded by other good kids and no one had drug issues like all the other treatment centers I checked out. I cant thank them enough and would recommend any family to come here. They treated my son with kindness and dignity but also help him accountable for "his stuff" . Best 2 months of his life and he was sad to leave but we were happy to have our son back. Amazing staff from Dr. Matt always greeting us with a smile to incredible therapist in Ali, and warm caring counselors. Thanks Center for Discovery
We had our son in an acute care hospital and the social worker recommended the Center for Discovery. Before our son was discharged, my wife and I met with the staff and toured the facility. We were impressed by the staff and how the program was structured. Our son was there 6 weeks. It was a game changer and now we feel our son left with a good base of skills that he has continued to use. We now feel our son can leave a normal type life and not have to worry that he may need to live in a group home setting as an adult. We can't say enough for the help and support we received from the entire staff at the Center for Discovery. When we were considering the facility we did some reviews on line. Some weren't overly positive, but most were and we feel that it was a very positive experience for our son and our family. Even our son now admits that he learned some great skills and that his time at Center for Discovery turned his life around.
I have my son back and we are a new and improved family. Having sought the right residenital treatment for my son (who has never used drugs) for a long time I was grateful to find the Whittier program. The team is so caring and helpful (it's impossible to picture the negative things others have mentioned about the staff at Whittier). Most of the counselors, which are the "floor staff" have their Masters or are getting their Masters and this makes a big difference. The Program Director Matt makes himself available and runs a solid program. I have learned so much about my son, myself and our family from going to the Saturday program.
I am an uncle of my fiancee's nephew, who has been struggling with personal issues due to family history. Meeting for his sessions weekly at CFD, I felt that the staff truly cared about his success and development as a young man. He is now at home with us and I'm proud of his progress thus far. Aside from these centers, what kids need is parents and family to engage them in REAL relationships and to spend time fostering healthy habits with love and support.
